LEARNING TO USE PHOTO APPS

I have a great deal to learn about how to use a computer. This past week I have been experimenting with photos….adding texts and other special effects. Some of the programs have been very frustrating to use. Most of it is likely user error, but it’s still annoying to think you have a finished product only to have all, or part of it, disappear when you try to save it.

I have been enjoying doing my photo projects; some of which you can see in the photos above. Others are private. I am working on photo albums for each of my children, taking their old baby books and rebuilding them into a whole new album. I am adding quite a lot to these photo albums and using scrapbooking methods. Some of the pages are photographical genealogies of our family. There will be whole pages of my dad and my mom, plus pages of my grandparents and their children and also of their parents. These are taking a lot of time as I am having to duplicate the photos I have so I can make identical pages in each album of these pictorial histories. But…these photos are quite old and some are very small. Trying to duplicate them has been a challenge. Online photo services tend to enlarge the photo, then cut it into a 4X6 size often with the result being not only are the images too large, but people get cut out of the photos altogether.

I did discover how to maintain the small sizes of the photos at my local Walmart, using their duplicating machine and utilizing the collage settings. Sometimes it works, but sometimes it doesn’t…so it is still a little frustrating.

Working with online sites to create books or get reprints of photos has its moments as well; so I have been trying to learn how to do all these things on my own computer. The challenge just gets greater, but I have managed to superimpose text over landscape photos that I have taken on some of my vacations. In the photo of the highland cattle I managed to place the photo over a very translucent photo of snowy mountains. It came out pretty cool. I am currently checking out different photo apps. Not sure which one I will end up with, but I like working with photos…..taking my photographs and making them into some fun projects.

At present I have a number of photo projects that I am working on…too many at once, but I get these ideas and I just have to try them. I love the results….sometimes.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:10

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.” Ps. 19:1

Whenever I am feeling creative I think about how creative God is; how we are His workmanship and handiwork. I like that He created us to be creative like He is.
