ALMOST THERE

Departure date is fast approaching….then it’s off to London! Trying to take care of everything that needs to be done before we leave. Hoping there isn’t something I have forgotten. So much work in getting ready…it’s exhausting!

The roses that have been freed from all that jungle that was cleared along the fence line are now prospering and doing well. There are several I didn’t even know were there until all the brush was removed. One is a pink climbing rose and suddenly it has tons of new leaves and is popping out with dozens of blossoms! There is a white one alongside it that is starting to do well also. It was nearly gone by the time everything choking it was removed, but now it is taking on new life. I have a sprinkler hose attached to a timer for the roses along the driveway, but with these old roses trying so hard to revive I knew they needed to be watered while I was gone as well. So I attached another sprinkler hose along that row of roses so everything out there would continue to be watered while I am gone.

I had plenty of roses to take over to the cemetery too and I was happy about that because there have been times when there were so few roses blooming that I made a bouquet out of geranium blossoms. Now I have a lot of roses and several varieties….so beautiful.

I planted a watermelon, a yellow squash, and a patio tomato in pots and set them with the onions, garlic and potatoes, set up a sprinkler near them and attached the hose to a timer. Now I have a hose with a sprinkler set to water all my potted plants around the front patio attached to the same timer that is on the vegetables. So…watering is taken care of.

Had to rethink the situation with my cat, but that is settled too. There will be people in and out of the house enough that she shouldn’t feel abandoned. It was bothering me that she would be here alone for the 3 weeks I would be gone, but now I know she and my outside cat will be taken care of and I feel better about it.

Looks like everything is just about ready. Packing is done, do need to do some cleaning and wash the sheets the day before we leave so that I can come home to a clean bed. I’m sure I will return feeling pretty tired and it would be nice to come home to a clean, neat house and a bed ready to crawl into.

God has been so good to me. I never ever thought I would get to visit England even once and here I am going for a second time. I am so grateful for all HE has done for me…all the things that I have been able to do, places I have been able to go, sights I have been able to see and a lot of it has been due to the generosity of my sister. She has been a great blessing to me and I am grateful for her. Sisters….when I was young I didn’t truly appreciate either of my sisters. Oh, I loved them, but I didn’t like them sometimes. But now, they are my best friends and we have enjoyed many adventures together. I do hope we will yet share many more. For now….it’s off to London and I can’t think of anyone I would rather go with than my sisters.
