INTO INFINITY AND BEYOND, GENERATION TO GENERATION
This week my siblings and I welcomed our newest addition to our family. Baby brother just became a grandfather (he’s 63)! This is first male child to be born with our family name in more than 30 years. And his parents, my nephew and his wife, have given him one of my Dad’s names. So cool!
In the old days, under laws from before the days of sufferage, he would be the heir apparent in our family….if we had anything for him to inherit. As it is, he will continue our family name. I wonder what kind of world he will grow up in. We have generation X and Z. What will they call his generation? Maybe the generation of a new beginning? One can only hope.
My middle sister is already a great grandmother as she had three daughters, born when she was still in her twenties and two of them had daughters while they were still in their teens, and two of them had children while they were still in their teens. My daughter was born when I was 32 and she didn’t have her first born until she was 21. My granddaughter will be 19 towards the end of this year and isn’t ready to be a mom yet. That’s okay with me. But with my sister’s great grand children, I have known six generations of our family, and may very well live to know one or two more. How families do grow!!

AND THERE IS NO LONGER ANY SEA…REV. 21:1
I have been going through old family photos and have photos of my forefathers back into the mid 1800’s. I don’t know who most of them were, but I have been able to identify my great-great grandfathers from two sides of our family. I love finding out about these past generations. I knew my father’s maternal grandmother fairly well, having lived on her little farm as a very young child. I have photos of myself with her, following her about and wearing the type of sunbonnet pioneer women wore. I have photos of her with her daughters and her grandchildren and great grandchildren and it is obvious how she loved each of them. She lives very large within my memory.
God told Adam, and then later Noah, to multiply and fill the earth. I look at all the generations just in my own family, examine my own feelings about these people, past and present, and I think this is how HE must feel about all these millions who fill the earth today and in times gone by. HE loves the world….all of it. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world….”. We are His creation, and the children HE adopted through His Son, Jesus. We can reject Him if we choose, but why would we do that? I have trouble accepting that idea, but there are millions who have and do every day. How it would break my heart if my children and grandchildren rejected me. It must be a great sorrow to Him to see all those who choose darkness over His Light.
On the ‘bright’ side…millions have received the Love He poured out on them and we will spend eternity with those millions….a part of His family for all eternity; loving, rejoicing, living a life full of every good thing. And that is a good thought.
Rev. 21:1-5 “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people and God Himself shall be among them, and He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” and He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
And all the people said…AMEN!!
